Not-for-profit Foundation
EIN# 01-0924051

Join us in making a difference in the lives of homeless veterans, families living in poverty, and neglected, abused senior citizens.

We have 100% volunteer staff that ministers to people where they are---we meet homeless  veterans on the street, take the hungry and homeless food and supplies, and provide counseling and resources to the abused, as examples of our ministry.

We take pride in the fact that 100% of all donations are directed to the provision of services to the homeless and those in need.

Our Initiatives

What We Do

At the American Family Foundation, Inc., we are dedicated to helping our community in many ways. As a leading charitable organization in the Tampa Bay area and Florida since 2010, we’ve been working day and night to make sure our goals are met. Learn more about our programs below and see how you can help us make a difference in people’s lives.

Homeless Veterans

The Horst - Tavarez Project

Poverty, lack of support from groups or networks, and substandard housing put about 1.4 million veterans at risk for homelessness. In addition, returning veterans are twice as likely to become chronically homeless as other Americans, according to Veterans Inc. Women veterans are four times as likely to become homeless as male veterans. In Florida, we provide food and clothing to homeless veterans and attempt to reunite them with their families and loved ones.

Destitute Families in Crisis

The Steve & Tonja Stuart Project

American Family Foundation, Inc. is committed to helping the neediest in the sunshine state. Eight months after a heart-wrenching story about homeless families living in economy motels, Scott Pelley brought "60 Minutes" cameras back to Central Florida to document another level of homelessness - kids and their parents living in cars. Our volunteers find those families---assist them with food, clothing, temporary shelter, and getting their kids back in school while pursuing employment opportunities for the parents.

Abused & Neglected Elderly

The Marie C. McQueen Project

From the National Center on Elder Abuse, Bureau of Justice Statistics, there are over two million cases of elder abuse each year with neglect accounting for nearly 60% of all reports. Our foundation partners with local community agencies to reach out to the abused and neglected elderly, offering them counseling, home-assistance resources, and companionship for the purpose of dignifying them as human beings and honoring the contributions they have made to their family and community.

Why a Foundation?

The genesis of the American Family Foundation came from Tom McQueen's award-winning book, Letters to Ethan: A Grandfather's Legacy of Life & Love. Endorsed by people like Coach Lou Holtz, Rudy Ruettiger (from the movie Rudy) and Dick Vitale at ESPN, Letters to Ethan is a testament to McQueen's grandson, Ethan, that a person's legacy matters. Enjoy Tom's interview on the Lifetime Television Network.

There are many in the world that are dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more

dying for a little love.

Testimonial

"God Bless You!"

"During your Christmas Mercy Mission to Miami, I met you and you and one of your volunteers in Homestead. You met me at one of my worst times and helped me to get home to my family in Georgia. I got the help I needed from the VA but if it wasn't for you, I'd still be living on the streets in Miami. Saying thank-you doesn't seem to be enough."

Testimonial

"I'm so grateful!"

"Sleeping in a car in Orlando wasn't how I thought I would be able to take care of my two kids. Thanks to you, we now have a small place to live, my kids are in school, and I have a job. I want to volunteer for your foundation when you come to Orlando again. THANK YOU!"

Testimonial

"I thought no one cared."

"When my son-in-law beat me up, I took what I had and left my family. You found me and now I'm in a half-way house for seniors in Tampa. You saved my life and I will NEVER forget you."
